Research Themes

Blockchain Strategy and Design

Blockchains disrupt business models.

This theme examines how blockchains shape innovation dynamics and business model strategy.

It uses social science tools to design and understand blockchain infrastructure (eg crypto economic design, token economics and auction design).

Blockchain for Social impact

Blockchains enable civil society to flourish.

This theme investigates how new blockchain-based tools (eg tokens, smart contracts) can propel social impact.

Examples include blockchain applications in developing economies, the changing nature of entrepreneurship, nonprofit administration and environmental solutions (eg circular economy).

Blockchain and Governance

Blockchain applications create governance and public policy tensions.

This theme translates a vision of a blockchain-enabled economy into research with practical insights for policymakers and those designing blockchain governance systems (eg voting mechanisms). Public policy insights include how law and regulation evolve alongside a blockchain economy (eg in consumer protection, privacy and taxation)

Blockchain and Work

Blockchains change how we work.

This theme investigates how blockchain changes the way that we work and disrupts the way we coordinate and trade.

Projects in this theme include working for a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) and the changing nature of skills in a blockchain-enabled economy.
