Dr Elizabeth Morton
Dr Elizabeth Morton is a Research Fellow at the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub as well as coordinator and Senior Lecturer of taxation in RMIT’s College of Business and Law’s, School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain.
Elizabeth’s research traverse's both the accounting and taxation systems, with particular concern directed towards blockchain and related technologies, information disclosure and tax compliance. Her research is currently underpinned by three core themes: tax compliance, crypto-related activities, and practitioner competencies. You can find her publications in a range of peer-reviewed academic and professional tax journal such as eJournal of Tax Research, Australian Tax Review, Australian Tax Forum, and the Tax Specialist to name a few.
Elizabeth engages with industry through channels such as discussion groups, policy submissions, articles, blogs, seminars, podcasts and radio as well as being a member of the Tax Institutes Academic Board. Elizabeth is also co-author of Bevacqua et al.’s Australian Taxation published by Wiley, which incorporates a series of crypto-related content to complement student’s tax education.
Prior to academia, Elizabeth was an accountant in a small taxation business in regional Victoria, working for all entity types on various aspects of accounting and taxation including capital gains tax and investments, GST and FBT compliance and superannuation.
As well as other associations, Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Tax Institute, a Chartered Accountant, member of the Institute of Public Accountants, and member of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).
