July 2022 - The Digital CBD Project's fourth report on digital skills and cyber security was successfully launched today and is now available for download.
The report highlights the growing digital skills gaps and features findings from a (first of its kind) Digital Skills Survey specifically targeted at Melbourne's digital professionals that was conducted this year. This survey estimates that 70% of respondents in Melbourne believe there is a shortage of digital skills in their organisation which adds to the startling predictions by the World Economic Forum that by 2025 Australia will need 3.7 million digitally skilled workers.
A range of recommendations are included in the report such as:
👉 Establishing a Victorian Digital Skills Academy.
👉 Creating an ICT and Cyber Security Diversity Action Plan for Victoria.
👉 Increasing skilled migration to aid Victoria's recovery from the pandemic; and
👉 Investing in innovative school programs highlighting digital skills.
Thank you to our industry panel who took part in our launch event today Jacqui L. from AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network and Glenn Goodwin from Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and added additional depth and context to this huge issue and what we can do about it.
